Align Your Smile with Comfortable and Discreet SureSmile Aligners

Many people desire a perfectly aligned smile but hesitate to commit to years of metal braces. Good news! Longmont Dental proudly offers the SureSmile aligner system to patients in Longmont, Colorado. This teeth straightening method uses transparent, removable aligners instead of metal wires and brackets, allowing you to achieve the smile you deserve without the hassle of traditional braces.

What is SureSmile?

SureSmile is a clear aligner treatment, similar to Invisalign, designed to straighten teeth with a series of custom-made, high-quality plastic aligners. These aligners apply gentle, controlled pressure to gradually shift teeth into alignment. Made from clear plastic, they provide a discreet look that enhances your smile. Since the aligners aren’t permanently fixed, you can easily remove them when eating or cleaning your teeth.

How does it work?

During your initial consultation, we’ll discuss the parts of your smile you want to change and assess your suitability for SureSmile. Any gum disease or tooth decay must be treated first to ensure a solid foundation for your new smile.

Using a 3D model of your teeth, we’ll create a treatment plan that predicts your teeth’s movement at each stage. Our digital lab will then produce your customized aligners. Wear your aligners for 20–22 hours daily, removing them only to eat or brush. Every two weeks, switch to a new pair of aligners as your teeth gradually shift into the correct position. While treatment durations vary, most patients in our office have achieved their goals in 12 months or less. You’ll receive a retainer to maintain your beautiful results once your aligners come off.

Who can benefit?

SureSmile is as effective as traditional braces or Invisalign. Visit a SureSmile provider if you are struggling with the following orthodontic issues.

  • Spacing: Gaps between teeth can affect the appearance of your smile and may lead to issues like food getting trapped, which can cause gum irritation or decay. SureSmile closes these gaps, giving you a more uniform smile and improved oral health.
  • Misalignment: Crooked or misaligned teeth affect your appearance and contribute to bite issues, speech difficulties, and uneven wear on your teeth. SureSmile straightens teeth, enhancing function and aesthetics.
  • Malocclusion: A malocclusion or bad bite occurs when upper and lower teeth don’t meet when you close your mouth. Malocclusions such as overbites, underbites, and crossbites can cause problems with chewing, speaking, and jaw pain. SureSmile corrects the bite, leading to improved functionality and long-term dental health.
  • Overcrowding: When insufficient space in your mouth, your teeth can overlap, twist, or become misaligned. Overcrowded teeth can complicate oral hygiene, increasing the risk of cavities and gum disease. SureSmile realigns these teeth, improving aesthetics and oral hygiene.

SureSmile Aligners FAQs

What orthodontic issues can SureSmile help with?

SureSmile is a powerful orthodontic treatment that can help address several dental issues, including:

  • Spacing issues
  • Crowded teeth
  • Mild to moderate underbites, overbites, and cross bites
  • Misaligned or crooked teeth

While SureSmile is a versatile orthodontic system, not everyone is a candidate. Your Longmont dentist will use advanced imaging tools to examine your smile and determine your eligibility for clear aligners.

Is SureSmile treatment an option if I have dental implants?

You can, but it requires careful planning. Your implants don’t move physically as your natural teeth do. If you already have an implant, your dentist will design your aligners to work around it while moving your natural teeth into alignment. Otherwise, we recommend delaying implant treatment until you complete orthodontic treatment.

Am I too old for orthodontic treatment?

Not at all. There is no upper age limit for clear aligners. As long as your teeth and gums are healthy, you are never too old to straighten your teeth with clear aligners. Many of our patients are in their 30s, 40s, and beyond.

Does the treatment hurt?

Your treatment is very comfortable. However, you may experience mild soreness or tenderness after switching to a new set of aligners. This discomfort is a good sign that your aligners are working. It’s normal and usually settles after 2-3 days. Many patients don’t need any intervention, but you can use pain relievers or chewies to enhance your comfort.

How long does the treatment take?

The timeline of your treatment depends on the complexity of your case. Here is a guideline about the expected timelines:

  • Mild cases: 6-12 months
  • Moderate cases: 12-24 months

Consistency is key if you want faster results with SureSmile. Typically, wear your aligners for at least 20-22 hours. Failure to comply may slow your treatment progress, even for seemingly minor orthodontic issues.

What should I do if I lose or damage an aligner?

Don’t panic, it happens. If you misplace or harm an aligner, please reach out to our dental office immediately. Depending on your treatment progress, your dentist may advise you to wear your previous set or move to the next one. Prompt action helps keep your treatment on track.

Should I wear a retainer after SureSmile treatment?

A retainer is a standard part of completing your orthodontic treatment. Your teeth have “memory.” When you fail to wear a retainer, they gradually shift back to their old positions. A retainer holds your teeth in their newly aligned positions, preventing orthodontic relapse. This step is key in preserving the results you have worked so hard to achieve.

How much is clear aligner therapy in Longmont, CO?

There is no universal cost of SureSmile treatment. That is because several factors influence the cost of your treatment, including the complexity and the number of aligners needed. Our team will share a precise cost breakdown after an in-depth consultation. We’ll also discuss ways to make your treatment affordable with financing and insurance.

Does insurance cover the cost?

Yes! Your insurance may cover part of your SureSmile treatment, but the exact amount varies. It’s best to verify your benefits with your insurer or our office to get clarity.
